B-17 Flying Fortress G-BEDF Sally B is the last remaining airworthy B-17 in Europe.

She is based in the UK from where she flies regularly at air shows, memorial flypasts and commemorative events as a memorial to the USAAF in Europe.
Since 1982, Sally B has been operated by Elly Sallingboe of B-17 Preservation with the help of a dedicated team of volunteers and the backing of one of the largest supporters clubs of its kind in the world – the Sally B Supporters Club.
Sally B is maintained by Chief Engineer Peter Brown and his team of volunteers, and flown by volunteer experienced professional pilots.

APPEAL FROM THE FOUNDATION:
This COVID-19 crisis has had a truly devastating effect on us all and it is hard to believe that when this horrifying virus arrived in the UK, we were ready to embark on a very special year for our B-17, celebrating the 45th Anniversary of her arrival in the UK; her 75th Birthday and the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII in Europe.
But this was not to be. Spring 2020 saw Duxford close its doors to the public followed by the cancellation of most UK airshows. By June, Elly had no alternative but to ground Sally B and cancel the entire Anniversary season for her aircraft. Sadly, Sally B’s display season ended before it had even begun.
This terrible situation now threatens the future of Sally B now more than ever before. No work, no income – your help is again absolutely vital if we are to get through this unprecedented horrific crisis.
Please, please support The Sally B Appeal, we are depending on you, as we tackle the greatest set of challenges, we have faced in the 45 year history of keeping the aircraft flying and keep honouring those young servicemen of the USAAF who made the ultimate sacrifice in WWII.
