We at SAFlyer and FlightCom magazines now have a Doctor as an editor.
A huge congratulations to our editor and publisher Guy Leitch on graduating today as a Doctor of Philosophy in Management of Technology and Innovation – Thesis: Air connectivity conceptual models to address the allocation of resources to African air transport.

Guy responded, “Wow everybody! Thank you for the overwhelming well wishes. It makes the slog all the more worthwhile! A special thanks to Nicola for having endured nearly four years of an absent or distracted husband who was pursuing his own selfish goals.”
Dr Guy Leitch was born in England but grew up in South Africa. He has a Masters Degree in Development Finance and is a pilot with night and multi-engine ratings.
Dr Leitch has had a number of different careers. The first involved developing Housing Finance policy for NGOs and private sector housing delivery. He was then approached to start and head up African Life Homes to deliver low income housing. He built the company into one of the ten largest providers of low income housing. In the early 1990s he was appointed as the Managing Director of a division of a major bank to manage their large book of repossessed properties.
The political transition made commercial development work near impossible so he migrated to the first world economy and started an investment and insurance brokerage and expanded it into marketing international investment property. He has headed the Financial Planning division of Aon South Africa. At the same time he started writing and in particular, contributing to aviation and financial publications.
In 2005 he was looking to more fully follow his two passions of aviation and writing so he purchased a controlling interest in SA Flyer, Africa’s largest aviation publication. He has leveraged SA Flyer to launch FlightCom magazine which covers the aviation industry in Africa and the Middle East. He also publishes Intercom magazine for SAA Flight Operations.
Dr Guy Leitch has become an aviation analyst in demand by a number of prominent local and international TV, radio and print publications. He has been married to Nicola for twenty five years and they have three children.
