Following on from our SA Flyer report in April, one of notorious plane salesman Piet van Blerk’s victims was Denise Hellman – a grandmother who bought a new Cirrus SR-22.
The South African high court found in favour of Denise Hellman in an action against the aircraft’s financier. The matter was then appealed to the supreme court which also found in favour of Denise Hellman.
Denise’s son, Neil Hellman, says that his mother now intends to institute litigation for costs and damages incurred as a result of their agent’s fraudulent actions. “She has been unable to fly her plane for over two years and is now incurring significant costs to allow it to be flown again.”
Neil points out that the judgement declared his mother “the owner of ZS-TTD, so it is Merchant West who have been defrauded by Piet and they will need to press charges accordingly.
